Country Singer — A Healy

A Healy (born 10 October 1981) is an Irish singer / songwriter and guitarist, best known for being one fifth of girl group “The Saturdays”. Healy is the only non-British member of The Saturdays. In 2006, Healy released to single studio EP, titled Sorry.

Early life

A Healy was born in Thurles, County Tipperary, Ireland to Anne and John Healy. She has a sister, Deirdre. She went to her local school, then began a teacher-training course, but dropped out to focus on music.She stated “I bought PA system, gigging musicians, in restaurants and hotels with started.” Always practising. “When I was 25 I decided to leave Ireland, and the first audition I went for was for this band.”

Career

Healy began playing the guitar from the age of 13. She was an acoustic and electric guitarist. She and Mollie King are the only members who can play an instrument, and plays guitar during most of their acoustic sessions. After leaving school, she started fronting to local rock band in Ireland. She recorded for a few years with various other musicians. Healy Ireland’s Glinsk Song Contest won in both 2004 and 2006 and her self-produced EP, “Sorry” was released in 2006. She represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 as a backing singer for Brian Kennedy on “Every Song Is A Cry For Love”. Since 2007, Healy has been a member of girl group “The Saturdays”. Their first four singles have all reached the Top 10 in the UK charts (“If This Is Love”, “Up”, “Issues” and “Just can’t ‘ t Get Enough”). Their debut album Chasing Lights also peaked at number nine. The Saturdays supported Girls Aloud on their Tangled Up Tour April/May/June 2008, the Jonas Brothers at Hammersmith Apollo their gig on 11 September 2008 and Take That at Take That Present: The Circus Live on 5 June 2009. They then went to embark on their own The Work Tour tour throughout the whole of June and part of July 2009. The Saturdays made a guest appearance in Hollyoaks Later on 18 September 2008, playing themselves. They also starred in a 10 – minute BBC drama “Myths”, in an episode called “The Syrens’ Call”.The Saturdays performed the song “Issues”. Despised being relatively unknown at the time, Healy won’t hottest female 2009 in the Virgin Media Music Awards. Similarly, she was ranked number 19 in FHM’s Sexiest Women by 2010. Healy is a champion swimmer, though you have spoken of an incident where she nearly drowned in a swimming pool. She represented Tipperary in the All-Ireland, and went on to become champion.

Personal life

Healy comes from a musical background and is the niece of country singer Declan Nerney from Drumlish Co. Longford. Healy is in a long term relationship with England rugby union player Ben Foden. They live together in the outskirts of London and have two dogs, Jackson and Bono.

She is a cousin of Irish athlete Paul Hession.
