Mary Chapin Carpenter (born February 21, 1958) is a singer American country and folk. Spent several years singing in clubs in Washington, D.C. before sign at the end of the 1980s with Columbia Records, and released as country singer.
It has won five Grammy Awards, and is the only artist who has received four consecutive Grammy in the category of best female country vocal performance. In 2005 it had sold more than 12 million albums.
